Where to Stay in Positano
a room with the view you came for
Where to stay in Positano — from the legendary cliffside hotels to calmer, family-run rooms, all within walking (or shuttling) distance of the beach and the lanes.

Positano is vertical, so where you stay is really about how many steps you're willing to climb — and what view you want while you catch your breath. The cliffside classics put the whole town and sea beneath your terrace; family-run hotels nearer the church and beach trade the grand view for an easier walk.
Book early — Positano's best rooms sell out months ahead for the summer — and aim for May–June or September, when the town is at its most liveable. A few we'd happily send a friend to are below.

Questions, Answered
Where is the best area to stay in Positano?
Staying in the centre, near the church and beach, means less climbing and an easy walk to dinner; the cliffside hotels above and to the sides trade an easier walk for the spectacular town-and-sea view. Decide whether you value the view or the convenience — both are wonderful in Positano.
Is Positano expensive to stay in?
Positano is one of Italy's pricier resort towns, especially in July and August. Rates drop in the shoulder season (May–June, September), and family-run hotels and rooms in nearby Praiano offer better value than the cliffside icons. Book months ahead for summer.
