Where to Stay in Mykonos
the calm corners of a loud island
Where to stay in Mykonos for a calmer trip — in or above the old town for early walks, or on the quieter north and west coasts, away from the south-coast beach clubs.

For a slower Mykonos, location is everything. Stay in or just above Chora (the old town) so you can walk the lanes at dawn before the crowds; the hills around town have polished hotels with the old port at your feet. For more quiet, look to the north and west coasts.
Avoid basing yourself at the south-coast beach clubs (Paradise, Super Paradise) unless that's the trip you want. The places below lean calm — adults-only boutiques, quieter bays, and design hotels away from the noise.

Questions, Answered
Where should I stay in Mykonos for a quieter trip?
Stay in or just above Chora (the old town) to walk it early before the crowds, or choose the north and west coasts away from the south-coast beach clubs (Paradise, Super Paradise). Adults-only boutiques and quieter bays like Agios Stefanos offer the calm version of the island.
Is it better to stay in Mykonos Town or by the beach?
For a slow trip, Mykonos Town (Chora) is ideal — you can walk the lanes at dawn and reach dinner on foot. The south-coast beaches are the party scene; the north-coast beaches are calmer. Match your base to the trip you want.
